Robert Griffin III will get the start for the Ravens against the Steelers on Wednesday Afternoon Football today, with Lamar Jackson in COVID protocol. I was looking at RG3’s Pro Football Reference page in anticipation of this game, and it’s wild to think it’s been eight years since his electric rookie season in Washington. Is there any chance he is good today?
This is RG3’s second start since 2016. Last season, with the Ravens’ top seeding in the AFC secured, Griffin started in Week 17 against the Steelers. He went 11-21 passing for 96 yards with no touchdowns, a pick, and 50 rushing yards. Baltimore actually won that game 28-10, as the Steelers started Devlin Hodges, who threw for 95 yards and lost a fumble.
The Steelers are also a difficult litmus test to determine what, if anything, RG3 has left in the tank. Pittsburgh is third in the league in defensive yardage, giving up just 306.9 yards per game.
So, to answer my own question, there’s little chance that RG3 is good today, but I’m excited for this maiden voyage of Wednesday Afternoon NFL nonetheless .
It’s hard to believe RG3 is just 30 years old! He still has a lot of years in front of him as an NFL quarterback. It would be awesome to see him have a huge game out of nowhere. This is his chance. He’s always had the talent, but Washington ruined him. I’m rooting for the guy.
