Is The Brees Blowing Out In New Orleans?
Drew Brees is catching heat for his remarks, his first since George Floyd's killing, during a Yahoo Finance interview on Wednesday and the heat is even coming from guys on the offensive side of the ball for the Saints. Brees, responding to a question about players kneeling during the national anthem in response to the Floyd killing, gave this answer: "I love and respect my teammates and I stand right there with them in regards to fighting for racial equality and justice," Brees said. "I also stand with my grandfathers who risked their lives for this country and countless other military men and women who do it on a daily basis."
Brees added:
The reaction didn't seem to sit well with wide receiver Michael Thomas and running back Alvin Kamara:
And then there is this from Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins: "I considered you a friend, I looked up to you, you're someone I had a great deal of respect for, but sometimes you should shut the f*** up."
