Kurt Busch has NASCAR fans guessing about what’s next, and what’s next could be retirement. Or so everyone seems to suspect.
A lot of that has to do with Busch releasing a video ahead of Sunday’s Daytona 500 that indicated retirement may be on the table.
“If you’re asking me if this is a retirement video, I’m leaving it open for interpretation,” Busch told The Associated Press on Saturday. “There’s subliminal messaging everywhere. It’s a reflection of my career, of winning.”
Then Busch’s Daytona dreams went up in smoke Sunday during a 16-car pileup on the 14th lap.
Everyone emerged mostly unscathed, but it does make you wonder how much longer Busch, 42, wants to keep doing it, especially when he himself sends the message that his professional driving career may be nearing an end.
“Is retirement for me? Am I ready to retire? I won it all. I’ve done it all,” Busch narrates in the video. “I’m so very satisfied.”
