Is Jarrett Stidham The Odd QB Out In New England?

The New England Patriots have a problem when it comes to the quarterback position for 2021.

Right now, the club has four quarterbacks on the roster, and since just about every NFL team carries only three quarterbacks, one of the four is going to have to go.

The four quarterbacks are Cam Newton, rookie Mac Jones, Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer.

The team is likely to hand the starting job to Newton, despite his struggles in the 2020 season, and there have been rumblings that rookie Mac Jones has looked great in camps and practices.

So that leaves Stidham and Hoyer. One of those two will either be traded or released.

The team brought Hoyer in to mentor Jones in his rookie season. Hoyer and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will have the task of getting Jones ready for action.

That may mean that Stidham will be the odd man out at the end of the day. Yes he's been with the team for two seasons and is entering his third, but the question is, has he shown enough in those two years?

The Pats will likely shop Stidham around during camp, as there could be a few teams interested in a QB who's been under the thumb of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
