Ranking songs on Bruce Springsteen's 'Born To Run' on 40th anniversary of album's release

"Born To Run" landed Bruce Springsteen on the cover of Time and Newsweek. What the E Street Nation already knew had now dawned on the world.

Forty years after Springsteen's masterpiece was released -- Aug. 25, 1975 -- the album still resonates, possibly more than ever.

The characters live and breathe whether on vinyl, MP3, CD or in concert.

So, while the album itself is brilliance from start to finish, here's an attempt at ranking the eight songs that launched Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to mega-stardom. And we'll throw in live versions for your enjoyment.

1. "Backstreets"

2. "Thunder Road"

3. "Born To Run"

4. 'Jungleland"

5. "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out"

6. "She's The One"

7. "Night"

8. "Meeting Across The River"

How would you rank the eight songs that start to finish prove to be one of the most complete albums produced by any artist of any generation?

And for a sports hook, here's Springsteen's performance at the Super Bowl in 2009.
