Warning: Massive Poisonous Hairy Caterpillars Loose

Videos by OutKick

“How could 2020 get any worse,” you asked your friend via IGdm. Here is how: with massive, poisonous, creepy hairy caterpillars.

Take a look at this thing before you never go outside again:

According to the New York Post, these creatures are the most poisonous caterpillars in the US and were spotted in Virginia.

They have a name too: puss caterpillars.

The state Department of Forestry is warning residents to be on the lookout. “The ‘hairs’ of this caterpillar are actually venomous spines that cause a painful reaction if touched,” the department says.

If you have the following symptoms, you may have been attacked by a puss caterpillar: intense pain, itchy rashes, nausea, and vomiting.

I’m sorry.

Last month, Crystal Spindel Gaston rushed to the emergency room after coming in contact with one. “It felt exactly like a scorching-hot knife passing through the outside of my calf,” she added.

As always: thank you, 2020.

  1. Are they REALLY that big, or is this like the fabled ‘desert spiders in Iraq’ that were supposed to be enormous and move exceedingly fast? Only for us to look at the hand of the soldier holding said bug and realize that it’s not actually that big at all.
