Guess Who Hit The 'Jackpot' Due To Texas Power Outage?

Jerry Jones might not be able to win a Super Bowl in the 21st century, but the guy sure knows how to Hoover-vac the Benjamins during a historic weather event in Texas. Jerry the Businessman is said to have cashed in this week via his Comstock Resources Inc. company that has been selling gas from wells in East Texas and northern Louisiana at jacked up prices due to incredible demand, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The billionaire owner of the Dallas Cowboys is said to have sold gas via Comstock "for between $15 and $179 per thousand cubic feet."

“This week is like hitting the jackpot with some of these incredible prices,” Comstock chief financial officer Roland Burns said Wednesday on an earnings call. “Frankly, we were able to sell at super premium prices for a material amount of production.”

While it's unclear how much Comstock will profit off the gas sales, as of 2019 Jones had sunk $1.1 billion into the company. Reuters reported that same year that Jerry "has repeatedly stated that he ultimately hopes to sell Comstock to a larger integrated major, an exporter, or a utility, a person familiar with his plans said."

CNBC and/or Fox Business will have to get to the bottom of Jerry's financial haul this week, but it's clear this genius had been preparing for his moment to strike. Let's go back to what he told WorldOil.com in November 2019.

“The gas in Haynesville is the best-cost hydrocarbons in the industry,” Jones told the site. “My immediate plan is to continue to aggregate long-term reserves to have the most efficient source of natural gas."

Jerry might not be able to figure out how much he's willing to pay Dak to stay around for the next 15 years, but he sure knows a gas play when he sees one.
