Giants QB Colt McCoy Will Indeed Start Vs. Franchise He Failed to Save

It's time for the New York Giants to hop back on their Colt and try to ride him to another important win. That, of course, would be none other than quarterback Colt McCoy, who apparently will again start when the Giants host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Regular starter Daniel Jones will miss the game with ankle and hamstring issues, and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says McCoy is ready to serve as a replacement.

This happened two weeks ago, and things went well. McCoy led the Giants to an unlikely road win over the heavily favored Seattle Seahawks.

McCoy should be extra motivated to play the Browns, too. He was once considered the franchise's greatest hope. But that was like 117 Browns coaches ago (or Eric Mangini, to be exact). McCoy was a young QB out of college then. Today, he's 34-years old and clinging to a career as a backup.

If McCoy can beat the Browns and keep the Giants in the playoff race, well, his failed time in Cleveland may not seem so bad.

The Giants are 5-8 and a game behind NFC East-leading Washington. The Browns are 9-4 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race. It's an important game for both teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EST.
