Hard Knocks should’ve been following the New York Giants and rookie head coach Joe Judge during training camp because this content machine just keeps giving the football world content that either proves Judge to be a genius or ends in disaster. Instead, Team Hard Knocks is out in L.A. following the boring Chargers and Joe Judge, 38, is doing garden hose fumble drills on the Giants Twitter account.
Shannon Sharpe is on record saying the Judge era “isn’t going to end well.” Brandon Stokley has called Judge “McDaniels 2.0.” And there have been plenty of rumblings that Judge is being fake and trying too had.
Judge, a virtual nobody a few months ago, has been labeled a try-hard by some Internet experts who have seen the head coach order players AND assistant coaches run laps for mistakes.
“If that’s what he has in store for us, running laps for mistakes, just don’t make mistakes,” said wide receiver Sterling Shepard said after the laps incident. “That’s a simple way to get out of doing that. Yeah, the last time I did it was probably middle school. But I’m embracing the change and I’m all for it.”
Judge jumped on ESPN Radio Tuesday to make it clear Joe Judge is being Joe Judge.
“It’s got to be genuine and it’s got to be sincere. You know how it is — if you lie to the players you’re going to lose them forever because they’ll see right through that.
“So I’m me and I think our players have a pretty good feel for who I am. I’m pretty straightforward with those guys. I don’t have a lot of time to mix fluff and try to make everything all sunshine and rainbows. I think that it’s my responsibility to tell them the straight truth so they can work on improving what they have to and we can get better as a team.”
Just when you didn’t think 2020 could get any weirder, you now have a couple of weirdo content machines leading the NFL teams in New York. The New York media seems to be giving Judge a chance since he’s been so great for content during training camp. Gase will be run out of town first and then we’ll soon find out if Judge is an evil genius or if he’s going to fail spectacularly like so many former Bill Belichick guys before him.

Looked like Giants defensive backs had tennis balls taped to their hands during practice the past few days. Turns out, that's the case. Judge said they're teaching them not to hold. Joe Judge says #Giants have thought about taking Daniel Jones’ red jersey off, to “pop his pads a little bit” before the season opener, but aren’t going to “throw him into a ‘royal rumble’ or anything like that. Will be smart about getting him some hits, in absence of preseason.

Seems like his players liked him in that mud scramble for the football.
