Georgia The Betting Favorite For College Football Playoff

Fresh off the College Football Playoff committee anointing Georgia the top dawgs of the league, oddsmakers now view the Bulldogs as far and away the most likely team to hold their place in the College Football Playoff's top four teams.

Only games against Missouri, Tennessee, Charleston Southern (which I looked up and can confirm is a real school), and Georgia Tech remain on their regular season slate, which means an SEC Championship Game appearance is as likely as peach pie in a Georgia diner. In other words, the 8-0 Bulldogs seem likely to cash their Playoff ticket.

FanDuel Sportsbook listed Georgia as -2000 to make the CFP, easily the best odds amongst the selection committee's top four teams. FanDuel had undefeated Oklahoma slotted behind the Bulldogs at -175 and Bama and Ohio State just below them, each at -165.

Alabama is currently ranked second in the Playoff standings. Ohio State still has a spot amongst the four most likely teams to make the one and done dance, despite taking fifth place in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. Behind OSU in FanDuel's odds are Cincinnati (+180), which is yet to lose; and Oregon (+270), which has arguably the most impressive win on the season -- a Week Two upset of OSU in Columbus. Next up are Michigan State (+1040), ranked third in the CFP, and Notre Dame (+1460).

The four teams that will ultimately appear in the College Football Playoff are selected by a committee of 13 members. The committee's final rankings will be released on Sunday, December 5th. That leaves just over a month for bettors to cash in on perceived Midwest underdogs like Michigan State and Notre Dame, or ride the favored Bulldogs to the bank.
