Georgia QB JT Daniels Cleared To Play Against Auburn

Georgia quarterback JT Daniels has been medically cleared to play this weekend against Auburn, according to Kirby Smart, but added that Daniels, a USC transfer, will have to win the job this week to get the start at home. Daniels had offseason surgery on his knee.

"JT will be cleared but I don't know how much that changes the picture in terms of reps and development," Smart said during a Monday meeting with the media. "We'll be looking at everybody across the board. JT's got to be able to show us that he can function efficiently and do it with his knee being able to do it. We always thought he'd be cleared by this time anyway but those guys will all compete as well as Carson (Beck) will, too."

D'Wan Mathis got the start Saturday against Arkansas, but he was replaced after going 8 of 17 for 55 yards and an INT. Stetson Bennett replaced Mathis and ended up 20 of 29 for 211and two touchdown passes in the Dawgs 37-10 win.
