No. 1 Georgia Handles The Yellow Jackets, Now Prepares For SEC Championship

Videos by OutKick

It wasn’t going to be much of a game in Atlanta this weekend, as Georgia made its first trip to the city, taking on Georgia Tech. After beating the Yellow Jackets 45-0, the Dawgs will now prepare for their return trip next weekend, to play for an SEC Championship.

It was all Dawgs from the start, as the defense continued to dominate and cause problems for quarterbacks. Georgia improves to 12-0 for the first time since 1980 when the Bulldogs finished with that mark as consensus national champions. This is Georgia’s first undefeated regular season since 1982 (11-0) and just the fourth time in school history completing a perfect regular season with double-digit victories. The Dawgs also extended their winning streak to 16 games, which is the longest in college football.

It was another day at the office for QB Stetson Bennett, who finished the game 14-20 for 255 yards and four touchdowns. The Dawgs ended up holding back some of the carries each running back would receive, but still managed to gain 208 yards on the ground.

The Dawgs held Georgia Tech to 166 total yards, 98 of those yards on the ground. This game was more about taking care of business early, so they could rest up the starters for next week. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 488-83 this season, as the closest game was the 10-3 win over Clemson.

Georgia will now take the week and prepare for a return trip to Atlanta next weekend, as they will play Alabama for the SEC Championship.
