Garth Brooks Playing Nationwide Drive-In Theater Concert

The TV reporter Phillip Swann has had a mantra for every time an interesting idea emerges during the coronavirus pandemic: "Think positive, and creativity ensues." This announcement on Good Morning America from Garth Brooks, who announced that he will play a concert that will air nationwide in 300 drive-in movie theaters, certainly qualifies for that:




The concert will take place on one night only, Saturday June 27th, and will cost $100 per car or SUV. Tickets go on-sale on June 19th.

This is a really awesome idea, and I'd bet it'll be a very successful venture. I've never actually been to a drive-in movie theater, but hope to get to one this summer as I have no earthly idea when Illinois movie theaters will open, and also it just sounds like a pretty cool way to spend an evening. If this Garth Brooks show is anywhere within a reasonable driving distance, I'm in.

It wouldn't be terribly surprising if we see more concert acts try something like this.
