Frank Gore Makes Impressive Comparison for Sam Darnold

Frank Gore has been in the NFL for as long as Sam Darnold has been on the Earth and so the veteran running back has seen a quarterback or two.

Okay, that is a bit of a lie, but Gore has been in the league since 2005 -- which is when Darnold would have been going into third grade. Now that the two are teammates on the New York Jets, the obvious question for Gore was to compare Darnold to a past quarterback that he has played with and Gore went big.

Andrew Luck.

“He’s got a nice touch, like (Andrew) Luck had in Indy,” Gore told NJ.com. " I just want to keep working with him and can tell he loves the game. Very smart guy. Just keep working and I’m happy to be here with him.”

That is high praise for Darnold, who is entering his third year in the league.

The steady climb from rookie to second-year was solid. He improved almost every measurable in that short jump.

He went from 17:15 touchdown to interception ratio to 19:13. He improved completion percentage from 57.7 to 61.9, which also increased his yardage output, going up from 2,865 to 3,024.

Gore is now on his fifth team, and third consecutive AFC East squad, after spending the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers.

He has over 15,000 yards rushing and was part of the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team.
