Former Tennessee offensive lineman James Parsons has found his next home. After entering the transfer portal back in early June, the former walk-on has announced that he will finish his career at Gardner-Webb.
Parsons announced that news on his Twitter account Tuesday night.

At 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, the redshirt sophomore could have an opportunity for playing time with the Runnin’ Bulldogs. His departure won’t affect the Vols much — at least not in the same way that some of the other transfers have impacted the roster outlook this offseason — but it’s good to see Parsons find an opportunity elsewhere.
Here’s what he had to say back in June when he announced that he was entering the transfer portal:
“First, I would like to say thank you to the coaches I’ve had here at the University of Tennessee for helping me grow as a player and as a person,” Parsons said in a tweet, via Vols Wire. “Thanks to everyone I’ve played with these last two years, I enjoyed working with all of you.
“Secondly, thank you to my friends, family, and academic staff, I wish you all the best moving forward. With that being said, I have officially entered my name in the NCAA transfer portal.”
