Former Notre Dame and NFL DL Louis Nix Tragically Found Dead, Per His Mother

It's the tragic ending you never want to hear with stories like this. Former Notre Dame and NFL defensive lineman Louis Nix III has been found dead in Florida, according to his mother.

This news comes after the reports that he had been missing since Wednesday. We reported on that news earlier on Saturday, but now have to bring the unfortunate update to the story.

Ben Becker with Action News Jacksonville shared the update on Twitter.

"BREAKING: Tragic news. The mother of Louis Nix has confirmed to me that the former Raines High School and Notre Dame star who played in the NFL has passed away"

After being missing for multiple days, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office sent out a tweet at 8 p.m. ET saying that Nix had been located, but no more updates were given. Then, news of his status soon followed.

He was only 29 years old.

Nix was a third-round pick to the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft. He had starred with the Fighting Irish for three seasons, but injuries derailed his professional career. After Houston, he spent time with the New York Giants, Washington Football Team and Jacksonville Jaguars.

This is heart-breaking news for his family, friends and former teammates and coaches. Keep them in your prayers.
