Former GM Ties Andrew Luck To The … Wait For It… Chicago Bears

Ex-Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has said nothing about wanting to return to the NFL, but the Chicago Bears are hoping for a little luck. So maybe Luck will come their way.

And in order for Bears general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy to stay employed, they will need to figure out their quarterback situation, according to former GM Mike Tannenbaum.

So per Tannebaum, the options are either to trade for New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, who is supposedly available, or convince Luck to come out of retirement.

“Go to Europe, talk to Andrew Luck, convince him to come back. Everyone’s going to be like, ‘That’s a long shot.’ Well a decade ago, we ran the same play with Brett Favre and the Jets. Everyone said he’ll never come to New York. We were able to convince him to come, and it was a good decision,” Tannebaum said during on ESPN’s Get Up!

“The other thing is Sam Darnold. Make a trade with the Jets for Sam Darnold. Let the Jets draft Zach Wilson and move on. But Luck and Darnold are the two quarterbacks that can save Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy’s job.”

Tannebaum is correct. Talking Luck out of retirement seems like a long shot. But right now, the Bears have Nick Foles as their starter and Mitch Trubisky, the former starter who is likely headed out the door. They also just inked a one-year deal with Andy Dalton, which has left some fans scratching their heads.

So desperate times call for desperate measures. That’s where the Bears seem to stand today.

“I’m saying to Andrew Luck, come back and win a championship, we have a great defense,” Tannebaum said. “You can change your legacy and then go retire.”

  1. if Andrew Luck is smart (he went to stanford), he waits until the draft and announces his return. Colts are stuck with Wentz and won’t be able to bring back Luck and his contract.

keep in mind that Peyton Manning has not been a Glowing Colts supporter. he will say all the right things at his induction ceremony in August, but the Colts are not a good ownership group. the Irsays are part of the old guard. elite. arrogant.

    Luck will come back.

  2. “Ex-Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has said nothing about wanting to return to the NFL.” Anything after that is called speculation.

Unless Andrew Luck himself has told someone firsthand he’s contemplating a return this is just clickbait. Come on now.
