Former Giants CB Tries To Rip Giants For Taking Daniel Jones Over Lamar Jackson, Fails Miserably

Former Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins fired up Snapchat Monday night as Daniel Jones struggled with two interceptions that led to 10 Tampa Bay points. The Buccaneers ultimately won 25-23. Jenkins tried to destroy his former employer for selecting a Duke quarterback in the draft.

"A Duke QB over Lamar. N wonder y they can't win..LMMFAO," Jenkins wrote on Snap, thinking he'd just dropped a nuclear social media bomb on the Giants. There's just one problem with Janoris' flaming hot take -- the Giants didn't select the struggling Jones over Lamar Jackson. I hate to break it to Jenkins, but the Giants selected Saquon Barkley over Jackson in 2018. Jones was not drafted until the following year.

2018 NFL Draft:

No. 2 pick: Saquon Barkley

No. 32 pick: Lamar Jackson

2019 NFL Draft:

No. 6 pick: Daniel Jones

Instead of correcting himself to say the Giants should've taken Lamar over Saquon, Jenkins dodged the subject.

Have no fear though. Giants fans have reminded Jenkins what happened in 2019 when Mike Evans torched Jenkins, and Jones led the team back for a second-half win. Jones was 23 of 36 for 336 yards and two touchdown passes to go along with two rushing touchdowns that Sunday.

Just over a year ago, Jenkins was much more complimentary of Jones: “Daniel Jones comes in everyday. He’s got a great leader in front of him in Eli. He comes in everyday with the same attitude and same emotions and just willing to get better, just learning. He knew his time was coming, it was just a matter of when. When his time came, I think he’s showed that he’s been preparing himself very well.”

Meanwhile, Bruce Arians had the correct take on Jones, who has seven touchdown passes and nine interceptions in 2020.

"The young quarterback (Jones) – he's still trying to do too much," Arians said. "When you're in the grass with those guys, it cost them basically the ballgame throwing those two picks. God bless him – he is hard to handle, and he's a kid that thinks he can make a play."
