The last time a Foo Fighters toe-tapper had this much buzz, Billy Bob was clearing the way for a game-saving Charlie Tweeder punt block in Varsity Blues. Now twenty-some years later, a California Foo Fighters show is generating the same type of day-after-game headlines that were commonplace for the Johnny Moxon led West Canaan Coyotes.
Prior to a concert at the San Fernando Valley’s Canyon Club, the Foo Fighters were thrown a monkey wrench when the decision was made to allow only fully vaccinated fans to attend.
In a decision eerily similar to the Coyotes’ protest of Bud Kilmer taking a needle to star running back Wendell Brown’s knee, numerous fans showed up outside of the concert venue to protest.
According to TMZ, protesters were seen holding up signs that read “Foo Fighters fight to bring segregation back” and “event for vaccinated only, unvaccinated not allowed”.
One such protester commented: “And what they’re doing is saying only vax people, separating humans is not OK. Those of us who have healthy immune systems should be able to enjoy these freedoms just like everybody else,” per The Hill.
Former child actor Ricky Schroder was amongst those protesting outside of the sold-out show of roughly 600. Schroder took to his Facebook page to blast Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl in the days leading up to the show:
Dave Grohl is an ignorant punk who needs slapped for supporting Discrimination. Ignorance comes in all shapes & sizes. Kurt Cobain is laughing at you Dave along with Millions of Patriots….Fool.
Though proof of vaccinations were required to enter the venue, one wonders if a Darcy Sears-like whipped cream bikini could’ve convinced ticket-takers to look the other way for anti-vaxxers.
