Five-Star QB Prospect DeCommits From South Carolina

The top dual-threat quarterback prospect for the class of 2022 rejoined the market on Tuesday. Five-star Gunner Stockton, the No. 27 overall player in the country, announced via Twitter that he was de-committing from South Carolina.

"After much discussion and prayer with my family, I have decided to decommit from The University of South Carolina," Stockton wrote. "Back in August, I made the decision to the University, program, and staff. A lot has changed since that time, and I feel that I should reevaluate my situation.

"I want to thank Connor Shaw for all his love, support, and understanding. Please no interviews at this time."

And there you have it.

There are a lot of people who feel this gives Auburn a great chance to land the 6-foot-1, 220-pound gunslinger. The Tigers recently added new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who came over from South Carolina.

If that happens, it would be a great start for the Tigers under new head coach Bryan Harsin. However, there is still a chance the Georgia native could end up elsewhere, including with the Bulldogs.

Stay tuned for more updates on Stockton's recruitment as they develop.
