Five Possible Destinations For Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo

The NFL landscape shifted quite a bit on Friday when the Miami Dolphins went wheeling and dealing with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles for picks in the 2021 draft and beyond.

One player directly impacted by the 49ers' moves is thrower Jimmy Garoppolo. Now that the Niners own the No. 3 overall pick, there's no doubt they will select a quarterback.

Niners sources continue to say that Garoppolo will be the starter in San Fran to start 2021, but there's going to be a market for the veteran quarterback.

Today we give you five potential destinations for Garoppolo, who will likely get calls from teams who would be interested in trading for his services.

1. New England Patriots

This is the obvious choice, as the Pats dealt him to the Niners in 2016. Garoppolo's name and a return to the Pats has come up several times in the last four years. Now that SF is almost certainly drafting another QB, it feels like it's just a matter of time before they move Garoppolo.

Even if New England gets Garoppolo back, it remains to be seen whether he'd overtake Cam Newton and start on Day One.

2. Denver Broncos

Drew Lock and Brett Rypien are the two QBs listed on the depth chart for Denver, and there's no doubt that Garoppolo has more experience than those two.

Denver has been quiet when it comes to making a deal for a quarterback as of late, which is why it could be the perfect time to reach out to the Niners and see what it might take to land Garoppolo.

3. Carolina Panthers

The Cats would LOVE to get Deshaun Watson, but if they can't pry him away from the Texans, they could take a long look at Garoppolo.

Carolina right now has the 8th overall pick in the draft, and if the right player or offer comes along, there's no doubt that Carolina would entertain it. Starting Teddy Bridgewater again in 2021 just seems like a bad idea.

4. Las Vegas Raiders

Sure the Raiders have Derek Carr and he's probably better at the QB spot than Garoppolo, but if Jon Gruden wants to make a huge splash around the draft, he might make a call to John Lynch and the Niners about Garoppolo.

Let's see if you hear any other chatter from the Raiders when it comes to making a deal for a quarterback. Now that Miami is making deals around the draft, the Raiders will probably be on the phone looking to deal as well.

5. New York Jets

If the Jets truly are ready to move on from Sam Darnold, going with Garoppolo isn't a bad payoff in the return.

A lot of it depends on what the Niners would want in return, but it wouldn't be a stunner to see the Jets get in the mix for Garoppolo if the asking price isn't too high.

If the price isn't right, the Jets will likely stick with Darnold.
