Fed Up Bear Chases Skier Down Mountain At Romanian Resort

Are you on a private jet headed to Predeal, Romania to get some skiing in this winter? You likely answered "no," but there's always the chance that one of you is a big-time skier who needs to hear about a recent incident in which a bear chased a guy down a mountain at a Predeal resort.

There's good news to report -- the bear didn't kill the skier. Let's just get that out of the way early.

“He did a pretty cool move, which is a really safe one when you want to get away from the bear,” Angel Somicu, told ABC News. “He dropped his bag off, and, well, the bear was dragged towards the bag.”

It was quite a scene as the bear came barreling down the mountain looking for a fight. “Ski patrol stopped us told us there was a bear at the bottom of the slope,” Daniel Jenei told ABC News. “All the people that were down there threw their skis down and ran from the slope.”

If you were thinking bears should be hibernating right now, you'd be correct. However, there have been multiple reports over the last couple years of local bears developing insomnia caused by too much warmth during their hibernation. One thing leads to another, and a bear is fired up and chasing a skier. It's not just in Europe. Bears breaking hibernation or changing their patterns altogether is happening in the United States too.

You know what that means, right? Be ready to dump that backpack when you're on those West Virginia slopes. Good luck. Your life may depend on it, if these bears keep getting too warm.
