Fauci 'Confused' About Why Texas COVID Cases Are Dropping

Nearly a month ago, Texas reinstalled freedom across the state, lifting all COVID-19 restrictions. The move sparked an uproar from the media, President Joe Biden, and Dr. Anthony Fauci -- all deeply offended by the move. It turns out, “Neanderthal thinking" isn't murder. COVID-19 cases in Texas are declining and the state's latest seven-day average in cases is the lowest since June.

Reacting to the news of the decline in cases Tuesday on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Fauci was baffled.

"I’m not really quite sure," Fauci said. The doctor, who appears on TV a few times an hour, added he's even a tad confused about the decline.

After regrouping some, Fauci said it may be because people are spending more time outside in Texas. Hmm, maybe. Would've been nice for a follow-up there. Willie Geist, of course, didn't agree.

Texas' success is probably shocking to Dr. Fauci. In March, he said that Texas' decision to end mask mandates and open businesses 100% was "risky" and "dangerous." Though no one in Texas asked for his advice, Fauci still said the state made the decision "far too early."

Fauci isn't the only one confused by trends in Texas. In March, Joy Reid called the move racist, an attempt to force black people back to work so they can make white people steaks. No one knows what that means, except that it was laughably wrong.

Texas and Florida have mostly ignored Dr. Fauci, while New York and California have taken precise notes. The title "expert" has never meant less.
