Falcons Cutting Punter After Absolutely Brutal Day

The Atlanta Falcons will reportedly waive embattled punter Cameron Nizialek after an atrocious performance on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Nizialek shanked two punts yesterday while the Falcons were attempting an unlikely comeback against the defending Super Bowl champions and division rivals. The second shank came in the fourth quarter while the Falcons were down by just three points; a 33-yard stinker that eventually led to a Tampa touchdown. Tom Brady and Co. eventually won the contest 48-25 in a box score rout that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Nizialek, an Ivy League product that played a grad year at Georgia, has bounced around practice squads and even spent a year in the AAF before finally landing a starting job with Atlanta. NFL insiders believe that he will likely get another shot in the league, though, considering he can step in as an emergency place kicker in addition to punting.

He had ten punt attempts during his time in Atlanta.
