Mets vs. Phillies (+120) 7:05 p.m. ET

It doesn’t matter that the Mets have new ownership, are spending money, and their fans are screaming “in Cohen, we trust.” The Mets are going to be the Mets. Once again, deGrom had the lead going into the 8th inning last night and the Mets’ bullpen blew it. Things might be different in 2021, but laughing at the Mets’ despair is still the same.

Surprisingly, even after their pathetic outing last night, the public backs the Mets tonight in their game against Philadelphia, as 59% of bets are on the Mets’ Moneyline. The former All-Star Marcus Stroman is taking the mound tonight, and he hopes to get New York’s season back on track. Stroman opted out last year because of COVID, but in spring training, he posted impressive numbers. He went 2-0 with a 3.44 ERA and had 17K in 18.1 innings pitched.

The Phillies are going to have Chase Anderson take the mound. Anderson posted much better numbers in spring training compared to the 2020 season. In 2020, he went 1-2 with a 7.22 ERA in 33.2 innings pitched. During spring training, he went 2-1 with a 3.07 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched. Are the Mets going to see the Anderson of last year or the one that struck out 15 batters in spring training? The new addition of Francisco Lindor didn’t light the diamond on fire as he went 1-3 H, BB. Peter Alonso posted the same stats as Lindor. This isn’t what Mets fans want to see from their two superstars, and I don’t think this will be the case tonight. I see Alonso and Lindor having much better games. I’m following the public with my pick tonight.

The pick: Mets -130

Brewers vs. Cubs (-106) 7:40 p.m. ET

Are the Cubs for real this season? I know that it’s only the 5th game of the season for Chicago, but after losing the opener against the Pirates, the Cubs are on a three-game win streak. They won impressively yesterday against the Brewers, and the public believes that the same will happen tonight as 75% of bets are on the Cubs. It’s the young guys’ battle tonight since Adbert Alzolay is taking the mound for Chicago, and Freddy Peralta is pitching for the Brewers. The Cubs hope that they have the Alzolay who pitched in 2020 and not the one from this year’s spring training. During spring training, Alzolay went 0-3 with a 10.5 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched. Comparatively, this spring training he went 3-1 with a 3.99 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched.

Peralta posted almost the same stats during spring training and the 2020 season. He went 0-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched. Yesterday the Cubs were able to win 5-3, despite Bryant and Rizzo combing for 0-7 and one walk. Rizzo and Bryant have only faced Peralta eleven times combined – they went 0-11 with 2 walks. I believe that Alzolay will get back to his 2020 self, and the Cubs will keep on rolling. I’m following the public with this pick.

The pick: Cubs -106

Dodgers (-160) vs A’s (+150) 9:40 p.m. ET

I’m either going to look like a genius with this pick or an idiot. The public disagrees with me, as 92% of bets are on LA’s Moneyline. Oakland has gone winless so far this season, and LA is 4-1. Their only loss came when Clayton Kershaw pitched. In Kershaw’s loss, he had a 7.94 ERA and a 1.9 WHIP. Kershaw’s struggles started in spring training as he went 0-2 with a 10.22 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched. Is this the start of the decline for Kershaw, or will he bounce back to his MVP form? It’s hard to say. The 33-year-old has hinted that 2021 will be his last season.

Chris Bassit will take the mound for the A’s. He had an impressive spring training, going 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA. The A’s will need to get their bats going against a struggling Kershaw. This season, the A’s have scored only 8 runs in five games and are averaging just 5 hits a game, but they are a better team than they have been showing. The A’s went 36-24 last year and won the AL West, and I believe that the A’s turn their season around beginning with this game. I’m heavily fading the public with this pick.

The pick: Oakland +150
