Ex-NFL Tackle Luke Petitgout Finds More Trouble As Fists Fly In Miami Eatery

Luke Petitgout has a pretty comical last name, but you best not mention it. He is 6-foot-6, weighs more than 300 pounds and played offensive tackle in the NFL for nine seasons.

Oh, he also has a tendency to run afoul of the law.

The latest example came over the weekend in Miami, where Petitgout allegedly got into a fistfight with at least one waiter at the scenic eatery known as Carbone. The fight allegedly led to Petitgout's friend, James Philip Bruner, pulling out a gun.

Both Petitgout and his pal were arrested.

Per the police report (via the New York Post), Petitgout and Bruner caused a disturbance "with the restaurant’s staff, preventing them from commencing their closing procedures. An argument ensued with both defendants and the restaurant staff, which consequently became physical.”

Three people told police that Petitgout "punched" them with "a closed fist." (Which makes you wonder ... is there really some other way?)

Anyway, this isn't Petitgout's first brush with trouble. It's actually closer to, like, his fifth or sixth.

For starters, he was arrested in 2013, on his wedding anniversary no less, when he supposedly used his future ex-wife's purse to belt her on the head. Then he supposedly threw her from the car. Those charges, however, were later dropped.

Then, two years later, he actually served time in prison for allegedly slapping his estranged wife and punching her companion while they were on a date at a Manhattan lounge. Eventually, though, a criminal court found him guilty only of harassment.

Yes, there's more.

He also was given a year probation and had to undergo anger management training in 2016, when he was found guilty of assaulting his ex-wife during an incident that allegedly involved him choking her.

And as the New York Post relayed, "In 2016, he was pulled over by cops in New Jersey while allegedly intoxicated and with drugs including cocaine, amphetamines, steroids, marijuana and ethylone (a psychedelic amphetamine designer drug), according to law enforcement at the time. He was sentenced to three years of probation."

So sadly, the latest incident is really just more of the same for the troubled former lineman.

Petitgout, 45, played college football at Notre Dame was selected by the New York Giants with the No. 19 overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft. He played his first eight seasons with the Giants before retiring as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007.

Since then, it's been little beyond bad news, and if you see him walking into your dining establishment, you might just want to get your order to go.
