Dwayne Haskins Back at QB for Washington at Critical Time

It's officially Dwayne Haskins' turn to try to lead the Washington Football Team someplace special. Or at least to the NFC East division title.

That's because starting quarterback Alex Smith (calf) has been listed as out for Washington's game Sunday vs. the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

It's kind of a tough blow for The Football Team. Smith has been pretty good, winning four straight. Washington is 6-7 and at least one game ahead of everyone else in the division.

Haskins has been just OK. At times, he's been downright bad. His uneven play is why Washington coach Ron Rivera turned to Smith in the first place, but Haskins is getting another shot now when the games mean the most.

He went 7-of-12 passing for 51 yards in relief of Smith last week vs. San Francisco. That was Haskins' first action since being benched four weeks into the season. Now, he is getting an opportunity to keep a good thing going.

"Dwayne has worked hard. He's paid attention and has watched. I believe he's learned," Rivera said.
