Dr. Chao On Joel Embiid: 'Hoping/Expecting' It's Good News

OutKick's own Dr. David Chao weighed in the Joel Embiid knee injury, suffered in the Philadelphia 76ers' easy win over the Washington Wizards on Friday. The Sixers indicated they suspect the knee is hyper-extended.

"Let's hope for left knee hyperextension with bone bruise and nothing more," Chao tweeted after being "called on" by NFL insider Adam Caplan.

Chao went on to say that Embiid is "gonna miss some time but hope not season ending." He added, "To be clear, I am hoping/expecting to hear good news. Since only video analysis, didn't want to overstate my thoughts."

Embiid is an NBA MVP and scored 23 points before suffering the injury. He is scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday. The 76ers (26-12) currently own the best record in the Eastern Conference.

ESPN reported the injury is a deep bone bruise and Embiid will miss some time, citing sources, but that his "ACL and meniscus are fine."
