Don't Look Now, But Even CNN Is Calling Out '60 Minutes' For DeSantis Report

You know things are bad when you're getting ripped by CNN -- and you too are a liberal news outlet.

That is the case for popular CBS News program 60 Minutes over a recent story about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state's vaccine rollout.

CNN generally ignores stories that paint fellow liberal media outlets in a less-than-favorable light, especially if those liberals are taking Republicans to task. But not this time.

Instead, CNN accurately reported that 60 Minutes is dealing with some major backlash after it aired a misleading story regarding DeSantis, Florida and the supermarket chain Publix.

"As part of a larger story about Florida's vaccine rollout, the renowned newsmagazine program spotlighted a recent $100,000 donation that Publix made to DeSantis' re-election bid," wrote Oliver Darcy of CNN Business. "The story, by correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, suggested there was a possible link between the donation and the state's partnership with Publix stores for vaccine distribution — a serious issue of foul play, if true.

"But, beyond spotlighting the public finance records, '60 Minutes' never offered any substantive evidence to support the significant assertion and link the donation with the partnership."

As OutKick's Bobby Burack relayed on Monday, this was little more than a hit piece from CBS and 60 Minutes, an attempt to create news where there really wasn't any.

And it appears even CBS' fellow liberal networks are able to see it.
