Trump Rips Into Fauci After Release Of Early COVID Emails

Former United States President Donald Trump released a statement on Thursday about the recent email controversy surrounding Dr. Anthony Fauci. In it, Trump critiqued the epidemiologist for withholding information regarding the virus' origins, per the online conversations.

Dr. Fauci—fresh on the publicity trail for his upcoming book, Expect the Unexpected: Ten Lessons on Truth, Service, and the Way Forward—has also been in the spotlight for a mass collection of emails, released by Buzzfeed, that linked the doctor to warnings of "gain of function" experiments happening overseas.

The emails demonstrate negligence by the epidemiologist, who discarded important information for being "too long to read." Critics such as Senator Rand Paul have demanded answers regarding Dr. Fauci's knowledge of the origins of the virus. It is heavily suspected that it can be connected to a lab in Wuhan, China. Fauci has repeatedly stated that he had no knowledge of a virus coming from the lab.

Former President Trump, in the midst of a social media blackout, released a statement via email demanding that Fauci answer to the American people who are wondering where the devastating virus came from. Trump reiterated that Fauci needs to be held accountable.

“There are a lot of questions that must be answered by Dr. Fauci. The funding of Wuhan by the U.S. was foolishly started by the Obama Administration in 2014 but ended under the Trump Administration. When I heard about it, I said ‘no way.’ What did Dr. Fauci know about ‘gain of function’ research, and when did he know it?,” said Trump.

He also released a second statement that read: “Now everyone, even the so-called ‘enemy,’ are beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from the Wuhan Lab. The correspondence between Dr. Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore. China should pay Ten Trillion Dollars to America, and the World, for the death and destruction they have caused!”

Serving as as both the expert on viruses and a frequent brake in Trump's rapid COVID response in 2020, Fauci's relationship with the former president during his time in office was often testy.

Despite withdrawing support for Donald Trump's COVID guidance and briefings during the pandemic, Fauci still credits the former president for fast-tracking a miraculous vaccine timeline that has now led to our nation's reopening.

Critics consider Dr. Fauci's negligence and inaction a troubling sign since it indicates the epidemiologist worked to gain political favor from a rabid fanbase in the media rather than protect the health of the American people.

People eager to return to normalcy continue to move on from ongoing mandates and political influence left over from the pandemic. However, a strange romanticization of Fauci continues to grow on the radical Left, who even in the face of transparent proof from the email scandal, still consider him a hero in the fight against COVID and against President Trump.
