Dog Shows Incredible Closing Speed, Wins Utah High School Relay Race

Still think cats are better than dogs? Would you ever see a cat enjoying a Utah track meet show the energy to get up, leave its owners and Usain Bolt down the homestretch to win a 4X200 relay? Cats won't even get off the blanket so you can throw them into a carrier to get them into the car, let alone chilling out enough to go watch a high school track meet.

That's what makes what happened at the Grizzly Invitational when a random dog decided to enter the race and show off the jets so spectacular. KSL-TV in Salt Lake City caught up with Gracie Laney, a senior at Logan High School, who was about to finish off the 4X200 with a win when she had company at the finish line.

"At first, I thought it was another runner, and I was surprised because we had a pretty good lead," Gracie told KSL. "As it got closer, I thought, 'That's too small to be a person,' and then I noticed it was a dog."

"When the dog crossed in my lane, I was afraid that I was going to trip over it, and then I was worried that I was going to spike it with my spikes," she added. "It all happened so fast."

And with that, even the cat ladies out there have to smile a little bit today. Go ahead, ladies, chuckle a little over the dog being cheered on by the crowd.
