Does Matt Patricia Going To New England Mean Matt Stafford Won't Be?

The New England Patriots and former Lions head coach Matt Patricia are back together. Plenty predicted a Matthew Stafford marriage in Foxborough, but will Patricia get in the way?

Don't count on it.

Matt Patricia's run in Detroit was a dumpster fire. There's no denying that. With that said, he didn't ruin Matthew Stafford. Patricia just needs Bill Belichick's guidance. Patricia went 13-29-1 as head coach, putting the league on notice that Belichick's assistants needed to stay assistants.

Now that Stafford is on the trade block, New England is a match made in heaven for all parties. Belichick would get a 32-year-old stud who can make every throw they could ask for, and they would finally get back to building that roster around a solution. Cam Newton may have embarrassed himself with the Patriots this year, but Stafford would sling it in New England.

Guess we can't be too sure?

Spin it however you'd like. Stafford and Patricia failed in Detroit, so it makes sense that the star quarterback may not want to follow his former head coach to New England. On the other hand, there are a million things wrong with that Detroit roster. It's not crazy to believe that neither Stafford nor Patricia were the real problem.
