Dodgers Have Not Been An Underdog Since October … Of 2019

Bet against the Los Angeles Dodgers at your own peril. If you do, just know that you’re betting against a heavy favorite.

In fact, the Dodgers haven’t been underdogs since Oct. 7, 2019. Think about that. We’re talking almost two years. Yes, we lived through a pandemic-shortened season in 2020. But still.

No less than the director of trading for MGM Resorts seemed stunned by this news. “I would have said they had to be a dog once,” said Jeff Stoneback, via Yahoo Sports. “That has to be a record.”

When it comes to betting, it truly is an amazing streak for the defending World Series champions.

“In last year’s World Series finale, the Dodgers were just -121 favorites over the Tampa Bay Rays, and they won. There were a couple games last season in which the Dodgers were small favorites, but they were never underdogs,” Yahoo Sports wrote.

“Alabama football has had a remarkable streak of being favored, but that’s college football. It’s easier to envision that type of streak in football or basketball. In baseball, with games every day and the chance of having a No. 5 starter face the opponent’s ace, teams just aren’t favored every single day.”

If you want to bet for or against the Dodgers, you can do so at FanDuel right here. Just know that they’re likely to be the top dog and not the underdog.

  1. Wow, that surprises me, a huge Dodger fan. LA did not face deGrom last year, nor have they faced him this year yet. Pretty sure the Dodgers have faced Scherzer a couple times in that period. Crazy stuff.
