Dodgers 1B Cody Bellinger Hits Homer, Called Out On The Same Play

Well this is something you don't see everyday.

Thursday was Opening Day for Major League Baseball, and players obviously wanted to get off to a hot start. Cody Bellinger did just that with his first home run of the season, but it won't count as a home run in the stats book.

Instead, the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman was called out and given an RBI after hitting a single.

If you're confused by that statement, don't be alarmed. Everyone was confused for a minute after it initially happened, but we now know why.

Justin Turner was already on base, and he thought the ball might have been caught by the outfielder. So what did he do? He turned around and sprinted back to first, passing Bellinger in the process. Unfortunately, that's an out.

Check it out below.

Turner better hope Bellinger doesn't come up one short of tying or breaking the home run record this season. Otherwise, he might have even more explaining to do. In his career, Bellinger has a 47-home run season and another 39. So it's possible.

Big yikes on Opening Day.
