So much of the conversation in the sporting space has centered on the returns of MLB and NBA, but it bears mentioning that the NHL is also returning Saturday. As such, NBC has released a video narrated by the outstanding Doc Emrick hyping hockey’s comeback:
The wait is almost over.

Not that you especially care, but I have a 30-1 futures ticket on the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup that by all rights should be dead but is in fact (at least slightly) alive due to the expanded season that has them in a best of five series against the Edmonton Oilers for the right to get into the 16-team playoffs. Getting a reminder of that reality in the form of Doc Emrick made me feel happy on a Thursday afternoon.
Great video. Hoping Outkick covers more hockey, the ultimate DBAP sport.
Doc is THE BEST, Ryan…as many more astute than me have stated over and over.
He’s a joy to listen to…not unlike the great Mel Allen — and Red Barber as well when he came across town and joined the greatest franchise in major league baseball history.
Too much enthusiasm for my home team? My bad, guys and gals.
(I’m not as old as you think lol)
