Deshaun Watson Returns, But Days With Texans Are Over

Videos by OutKick

Deshaun Watson returned to practice after a week off to receive treatment on his ankle and calf, but his days as the Houston Texans’ quarterback have undoubtedly reached an end.

Per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, “Watson will never play another down for the Texans.”

This doesn’t necessarily come as a huge surprise. With more than 20 sexual assualt accusations filed against him, Watson may never play another down … period.

There is also the matter of the pre-accusation madness, where Watson reportedly was seeking a trade.

So, yeah. His days in Houston are highly likely over, and that would be the best ending for all involved. For now though, Watson has been a good sport, going through the motions when he’s healthy enough to participate.

“He has been attending team meetings and, although it’s clear he wants to be traded and the franchise wants to trade him, he’s been participating in training camp and avoiding being fined $50,000 a day,” Brooks Kubena of the Chronicle noted.

It’s hard to know what will happen next for Watson. He has been linked to the Atlanta Falcons and several others. Of course, he also may be linked to multiple court hearings and legal battles.

As for the Texans, Tyrod Taylor, Davis Mills and Jeff Driskell are the other QBs on the roster. They appear to be going through a camp battle to become the Texans’ next man under center.

Watson, on the other hand, is just there to make it known that he’s available. Question is, is he a risk worth taking?
