Danny Green Gets Engaged But Not Before Executing His Financial Plan

Listen up athletes: Lakers guard Danny Green has a great idea on how to avoid getting engaged to those long-term girlfriends who might be begging for a ring. Just say you're saving up for the right ring. Danny, who turns 33 next week, got engaged to former Purdue volleyball player Blair Bashen Monday and apologized for being frugal.

"Sorry it took so long babe! just wanted to be able to get you the ring you deserved and couldn’t afford it until now ? love you with all my heart and Im so lucky to have had you by my side these past 5 years...many more years to come! Here’s to forever!"

Going into the shortened 2019-20 season, Green had earnings of $52,693,631. He was scheduled to make $14,634,146. I'm not sure how the NBA has been handling paychecks since mid-March, but you have to assume Green made almost all of that cash before corona killed the season. Let's add it all up real fast: $67 million and change.

There's the Derek Jeter way and the Danny Green way. Both guys were measured, didn't rush into a tragic mistake and seem to be a couple of guys I'd take financial advice from.
