Danica Patrick & Aaron Rodgers Are Finished? (Update)

My phone started going off last night while I tried to be a responsible father and sit down with the family for dinner: "Did you see this?" It was a link to a post headlined, "Danica Patrick Appears To Have Unfollowed Aaron Rodgers." Before kids I would have whipped out a 200-word post and then grabbed dinner. But these days the kids come first before these two who've been faking this relationship for way too long now.

The big news this week appears to be that Danica has unfollowed Rodgers on Instagram and she might've even taken the drastic step of purging likes of his photos.

I've tried to tell you guys for years now (way before my time at Outkick; I have just over a month of service here) that whatever Aaron Rodgers and Danica Patrick have going on it's about as fake as it gets. The random kisses I've seen out of these two seemed like a couple of B-list actors faking horrible intimacy. Even the photo Danica posted from their Peruvian trip during Rona back in the spring presents as one of those photos you take with a friend from college that just happens to be from the opposite sex.

(Update: they're finished. Danica's rep confirms it for E! News.)

I had this constant feeling these two were about to collaborate to sell me some product I don't need, like a retirement fund or yogurt. From the beginning, it felt like the marketing arms from each camp got together and thought that a forced relationship would be good for business and it would keep Danica relevant after her NASCAR retirement.

Does any of this matter? Of course not, but as a human emotions expert, I know women out there dream of a relationship with Aaron and this is the kind of stuff they'll text their girlfriends about. So we post it. It's one giant ball of entertainment, even the relationships these people are in.

Where does Danica go from here after years with NASCAR's Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Rodgers? She's 38 and selling wine so I would expect her to fall in love with a tech billionaire who dabbles in the wine industry. Someone you've never heard of, but he's crazy wealthy & has Whole Foods relationships. Rodgers? Who knows. I've never been able to figure out this guy.
