Customer Calls Out NY Vegan Bakery For Allegedly Buying Regular Dunkin Donuts And Selling Them

A Vegan bakery is coming under criticism after allegedly buying regular Dunkin Donuts and reselling them as if they were their own home-cooked ones.

Get ready for this drama everybody! Because here we go.

Long Island, New York doughnut vendor "The Savory Fig," was called out in a WILD Instagram post by one of their vegan grocers after the person there thought some of the doughnuts that were dropped off in the daily allotment had sprinkles that looked awfully similar to Dunkin's. Kudos to Jonathan for being able to tell the difference between human-made sprinkled doughnuts.

"I immediately became concerned as to why this one doughnut was decorated differently than all the others and in such a strikingly similar way to a recognizable chain," CindySnacks co-owner Jonathan Stengel wrote in the Instagram post.

"I pulled all of the items delivered out of our racks immediately and stored them in the back out of precaution until I could confirm what was or wasn’t happening here," Jonathan the Vegan Superhero wrote in his post.

He then describes how he texted The Savory Pig owner Michelle Siriani and confronted her telling her to come clean about the alleged doughnut dupe and he wouldn't make it public.

Unfortunately for Michelle, she denied it, saying that she didn't know what he was talking about.

BAKER WARS!

Well, Jonathan the grocer-turned-food detective clearly doesn't have any other choice but to now research, diagnose and even buy a FOOD TESTING kit to test out the suspicious doughnut. (Remind me to never play a board game with Jonathan because it would probably be exhausting.)

And of course, according to him, the doughnuts in question came back positive for gluten! So he decides to go on Instagram, call out The Savory Pig by name and start ripping them on what he found.

"We have cut all personal and business ties with this person effective immediately. We are mortified that we provided any of her products to our customers and our own family. We trusted a well-known, highly recommended vegan and gluten free baker," Jonathan wrote on his Gram.

'WELL, THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY'

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is now involved and investigating the incident.

Michelle, however, still denies that she ever used anything that wasn't vegan in her doughnuts, and says that Jonathan tested a different one. Forget about the Bride Wars everyone, we've got the Baker Wars going strong on Long Island right now!

Now, mind you - if Savory Fig did indeed pass off some D&D as their own, I'm sure it's because they looked around at each other and were like, let's bypass waking up at the crack of dawn to bake and just go to D&D and pretend they were ours. Makes sense, no?

I'd call it the food version of copying your high school science test answers and handing them off to a buddy when he takes the test later on.

Unfortunately for them, they messed with vegans and, as we all know, that's a big no-no because things like this happen.

Talk about being called out!
