'True Detective' Fans Very Split On New Seasons, Reactions Flood In

"True Detective: Night Country" fans have very different opinions on the season.

The fourth season of the hit HBO series dropped the second to last episode last week Friday. The episode hit Max a couple of days early due to a scheduling conflict with the Super Bowl.

No TV show has a chance of competing against the Super Bowl. Releasing the episode early was the smart and correct decision.

However, fans are incredibly divided on season four. It seems viewers either love it or absolutely hate the season with Jodie Foster.

Opinions on "True Detective" season four are all over the place.

Out of pure curiosity, I hopped on X to see what people were saying about the fifth episode of "Night Country." While I won't spoil it for anyone still not caught up, it ended with a truly shocking death. Personally, I loved episode five.

Some felt the same way, but many are also not enjoying the new season at all. Check out some of the reactions below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I must admit that I truly don't understand all the outrage around "Night Country." Perhaps it's because I've already seen the ending and know how it ends. I think the season is very solid, and the best overall mystery since season one with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.

Is it perfect? No. Are there a handful of cringe moments? Without a doubt. However, when I judged the season in totality, I found it to be very entertaining.

Again, it's not perfect and it's not season one. However, if everything is judged against the first season, then people are just going to be constantly disappointed. The first season is the single greatest season of TV ever made. Expecting every new season to meet the same standard is simply unrealistic.

I can't wait to see how people react to the ending. Something tells me it will only further drive people into their current corners, but the reactions should be incredibly entertaining. Let me know your thoughts on the "True Detective: Night Country" at David.Hookstead@outkick.com!
