Taylor Sheridan Goes On Anti-Forrest Gump Rant: 'What Is This Sh*t?'

Taylor Sheridan HATES "Forrest Gump," and he doesn't care who knows it.

Sheridan has become arguably the most powerful man in Hollywood, but that doesn't mean he has to like every classic. In fact, he's more than willing to take a flamethrower to things he doesn't like. The legendary film with Tom Hanks as a mentally handicapped man experiencing great American moments is right at the top of the list.

Some comments have recently gone viral from the "Yellowstone" creator's interview with Joe Rogan, and his thoughts on the film couldn't be any clearer.

Taylor Sheridan hates "Forrest Gump."

He thinks it's a heaping pile of hot garbage. Sheridan told Rogan the following:

"For me, the holy grail as a storyteller is to entertain, educate, and enlighten. Don’t give anybody answers. Just lots of questions to think about. That’s my job. Because I can’t stand to pay money to have someone preach to me their ideas…That’s the reason I hated Forrest Gump, and I don't mean to say that to catch all this sh*t. But, this doddering f*cking idiot is the only guy who can figure out the world? Everybody else around him. He’s just going to go on a f**king run across America and everyone’s gonna follow him and that’s gonna heal the country? I just was like, ‘What is this sh*t?"

You can watch him cut it loose below, and make sure to send me your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Does Sheridan have a point?

This might be a bit of a hot take, but I kind of agree with Sheridan's assessment of the movie. Now, do I think "Forrest Gump" is garbage?

Absolutely not. It's a fun film. In fact, I would even agree with those who think it's a great film. It is! However, is it some profound piece of art that we have to pretend changed the world?

No, it's just hours of Tom Hanks going through notable events and being rejected by the love of his life until she has HIV. Does that sound overly profound to you?

The reason everyone loves the movie isn't because of the message. Even if they don't realize it, the reason the film is such a classic is because of Tom Hanks' epic performance as Forrest. That's why it's beloved and such a hit. It's not because there was some underlying anti-war or pro-peace message.

I kind of have to agree with Sheridan…..to a degree! It's a solid movie, but let's not get over our skis. It's not nearly as outstanding as a lot of people claim. Think I'm incorrect? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
