Sydney Sweeney Addresses Affair Rumors On SNL, Reveals 'Show Boobs' Backup Plan If Acting Didn't Work Out

Having Shane Gillis and Sydney Sweeney hit back-to-back in the order proved to be a smart move on the part of Saturday Night Live.  The two had people talking and interested in tuning in.

Prior to last week's show when Gillis made his return, I couldn't tell you the last time that I watched anything from SNL as it aired.  Now, in two consecutive weeks, I've tuned in for the monologue and a handful of sketches.

Letting both of them "cook," in their own way, was also a wise move by those making the decisions.  Nobody would have gone for an overly sanitized Gillis monologue and nobody would have tuned in for a buttoned-up Sweeney performance either.

SNL put those concerns to rest early on.  Pop culture's savior was going to be free to continue her very important work and that's exactly what she did.

Sweeney addressed a wide variety of topics in her monologue, everything from Madame Web bombing to her mom's Trump-themed birthday party, and her backup plan of "Show boobs" had her acting career not worked out.

She also addressed the rumors of an affair with her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell, who she introduced as her fiancé before saying that her real fiancé was hanging out in her dressing room.

Sydney Sweeney Addresses Glen Powell Affair Rumors

"The craziest rumor I've seen is that while I was filming Anyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star, Glen Powell," Sweeney said.  "That's obviously not true.  Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot."

She continued, "I just want to let everyone know that he's the man of my dreams, and we're still together and stronger than ever.  He even came here to support me.  Can we cut to him?"

The camera cuts to Glen Powell, who is sitting in the audience.  "No, that's not my fiancé," she said.  "He's in my dressing room!"

There you go.  That's one way to set the record straight.  There's nothing going on between her and Glen Powell that her future husband doesn't know about and possibly watches.

That's what I gathered from the interesting way in which her denial was worded.

To each their own.  I'm not here to judge, I'm here to report on important matters, like Sweeney's work as a Hooters waitress for one of the skits she appeared in.

Good luck following Shane Gillis and Sydney Sweeney in the batting order.  That task falls on Josh Brolin next week, and he'll be lucky if he makes contact.

I get it, not everyone in the lineup is a power hitter, but when the rest of your show isn't good enough to hold its own, you better fill it up with hosts who can hit the long ball.

It's safe to say the streak of tuning in to SNL is going to end at two for me.
