'Stranger Things' Producer Shares Cryptic Comment About Final Season

"Stranger Things" producer Shawn Levy had an interesting comment about what the final season might look like.

The fifth and final season of the legendary Netflix series is currently in production, and an educated guess puts the release at some point in early 2025.

That will be roughly nine years after the show first premiered. The conclusion has been a long time coming, and fans can't wait to see how it ends.

While there's very little information out there, Levy did seem to provide a minor hint.

"Stranger Things" producer discusses final season.

"If I was a fan who had nothing to do with Stranger Things, I would presume that the final season was going to be big in scale. But I'd also want to note that the heart and soul of that show, which is its characters, are intact and are as central as spectacle. And indeed, they are," Levy said during an interview with People.

Translation (to the best of my abilities): Expect the final season to focus on character arcs and not be event driven.

That's just a guess but I think it's a solid one, judging from his carefully crafted statement.

While Levy's comment isn't groundbreaking by any metric or measurement, it does seem to provide some insight on what writers and producers are thinking.

Let's be honest, "Stranger Things" has always been a character driven story. It's a coming of age story told through the lens of a sci-fi thriller/drama.

Yes, big events happen, but the main focus through four seasons has always been about the characters and where they're going.

That's exactly what fans are hoping happens by the time the credits roll for the final time.

Now, here's the bad news. In order for the show to remain dedicated to the characters, some are going to have to die. It's the only way the stakes are high enough to make the audience feel like it has taken a punch to the gut. That means it might be time to get some tissues. Fans might be in for a sad ending.
