Perfectly Executed Proposal In A Georgia Waffle House On Valentine's Day Proves Romance Is Alive & Well

The knee-jerk reaction when you hear about the latest celebrity breakup news is to announce that romance is dead.  I'm as guilty as anyone is in firing off those overreactions.

But what I've learned in February 2024 is that romance is very much alive and well.  We've had several examples of this over the past several weeks.

Everything from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's ride to Super Bowl glory to the Kentucky couple who tied the knot in a gas station bathroom.  On the surface, they appear to be two wildly different situations, but deep down, love is at the core of both.

That brings us to yet another recent love story.  This one took place at a Waffle House in Georgia, and like the wedding in the gas station bathroom, it went down on Valentine's Day.

It turns out that the Waffle House is for more than late night stops and brawling with strangers.  Thanks to fisherman and plumbing company owner John Cox, we now know that a well executed proposal is an option.

Cox filmed the romantic scene, complete with a waffle ring, and shared it on social media.  He starts the video off by capturing the scene and saying to his soon-to-be fiancée, "Now look, it takes a real man, look baby, it takes a real man to make a Waffle House romantic."

The Waffle House Is Going To Hold A Special Place In Their Hearts

She agrees without realizing what is actually taking place.  A Waffle House employee is delivering a waffle with a diamond engagement ring on it.  As she notices the ring, and tears of joy start to well up, Cox asks, "And I just have one question. Will you marry me?"

Before answering "yes," her first concern is how her gift compares to the one she's just received.  She replies, "What?  I got you… I got you beef jerky."

That's how you rip the knob off of the romance dial.  If she's not still walking on clouds a week after hitting up the Waffle House, grabbing a meal, and leaving an engaged woman, then she doesn't have a heartbeat.

It's as simple as that.

And let's not downplay the beef jerky that she got him.  That's a gift from a woman who is a keeper in every aspect of the word.  This is love, people.  It doesn't have to be complicated.
