Penny Lane Is Ready For Summer, Katya Elise Henry Celebrates The Holiday Weekend & South Park Roasts Lizzo

Ready or not, summer is here

Welcome to the start of summer.  Whether you are ready or not, summer has arrived.  It's Memorial Day Weekend, and it's time to fire up those grills, jump in the pool, and put it on autopilot in the office until your summer vacation arrives.

If you're not a fan of all that comes with summer, I don't know what to tell you.  It's the best.

Sure it's a pain in the ass with the kids out of school.  You have to find something to keep them entertained, but you are rewarded with the promise of a body of water or two to relax next to and all that comes with hitting the pool, the lake, and the beach.

I'm a big summer guy.  There's baseball on for those afternoon naps after a day on the water.  There are evenings out on the patio to be had with a few beverages of your choosing too.  I'm not a golf guy, but if that's your thing, there's plenty of golf to be had as well.

Let's go.  I'm ready for all of it.

Paige VanZant got dropped by an influencer

I could have gotten into the NBA and NHL Conference Finals today, but I decided to go with Paige VanZant's return to combat sports and her professional boxing debut.

We're headed for a Celtics-Mavericks Finals in the NBA with Boston going up 3-0 and Dallas having a shot at doing the same tonight.  Not a ton of excitement yet.

Over on the ice, we have a couple of 1-1 series.  They're promising to be much more entertaining.  We shall see how those play out.

Back to VanZant's return to fighting.  This is by far the most impressive part of her night as she took on influencer Elle Brooke for a Misfits Boxing title.

There's a reason VanZant is no longer in the UFC and hasn't fought since 2021, when she lost her second BKFC bout in a row.  Her best fighting days are behind her.

After Saturday night's fight against Brooke, she probably needs to call it a career.

The influencer/adult content creator who picked up fighting maybe two years ago dropped VanZant early on in the fight.

Don't get me wrong, Brooke has a solid right hand.  But this can't happen to a fighter with as much experience as VanZant has.  And if it does, you better go on to dominate the fight.

That didn't happen.  She got dropped in the first-round and left the ring with a split draw decision.  Her streak without a win continues.

It's time to focus on the content game.

Another recognizable name on the fight card was Le'Veon Bell, who fought in the co-main event against Tristan Hamm.  He was escorted to the ring by his former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate, Antonio Brown.

Unlike VanZant, Bell took care of business after surviving some early trouble.  He took home a unanimous decision win over Hamm after dishing out a lot of punishment.

Bell is now 2-1 in his three professional fights and moves to the semifinals of the ongoing Misfits cruiserweight tournament.  What a time to be alive.

South Park roasted Lizzo in new special

South Park dropped another special on Friday called "The End of Obesity."  It's streaming on Paramount+ and hand up, I haven't seen the full episode yet.

I was planning to watch it last night, but I got dragged out to The Garfield Movie instead.  Let me just say it wasn't worth the price of admission.  The Garfield Movie is terrible.

That's neither here nor there.  I will be checking out the South Park special later today and from what I've seen making the rounds on social media, it's not going to disappoint.

They're, of course, taking shots at the Ozempic craze sweeping the nation and the fact that some can't afford it and their insurance won't cover it.  For those who can't afford the medication there's good news, you can get a prescription for Lizzo instead.

Now that's funny.

Gassy suspect gives away his hiding spot

Some people talk too much when they're feeling the pressure.  Some people shut down completely.  I've heard of those who have certain body parts that takeover when stress is applied.

Then there are those who get gassy.  These people are a danger to themselves and those around them.  I don't know what this suspect did, but as one of the gassy ones, I'm glad he was found and arrested.

That's all for this Sunday's edition.  Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend.  I'll see everyone next week when the calendar flips to June.  The inbox is open.  Send whatever you want my way at sean.joseph@outkick.com.
