Osama Bin Laden-Themed Beer Goes Viral, Sells Out In England

An Osama bin Laden-themed beer is making waves online

As a firmly anti-terrorist publication and anti-terrorist American, my attention was grabbed when I saw headlines about this beer coming out of England. What I found was, honestly, pretty funny.

Mitchell Brewing Co recently released Osama Bin Lager, and it's been an overwhelming success. The BBC reported that the beer has already sold out, and demand is so high that Mitchell Brewing Co had to unplug its phone.

"We've woken up the last couple of mornings with thousands and thousands and thousands of notifications.," owner Luke Mitchell told the BBC. His wife Catherine added, "It's been crazy. The phone just hasn't stopped for the last 48 hours."

However, before people freak out and get outraged, the beer featuring a mocking photo of the al-Qaeda founder is for a good cause. Each barrel sold results in roughly $12.71 being donated to charity for the victims of 9/11.

Brewery goes viral for Osama bin Laden-themed beer.

Not only does the brewery have a beer inspired by Osama bin Laden, but it also features Kim Jong Ale and Putin Porter. The beers are inspired by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Russian authoritarian leader Vladimir Putin.

"Everyone laughs when they see the names on the bar. As far as I'm aware, no one's been offended, but I'm sure there is someone out there, I think there's always a risk of somebody being offended," Catherine explained.

As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any real outrage online. If there is, it's not rising to the level of being noticeable. Honestly, I think it's hilarious a brewery found a way to make fun of three awful humans, while also raising money for a good cause.

If I walk into a bar or taproom, and there's beers taking shots at Osama bin Laden, Putin and little fat boy Kim Jong Un, I'm literally not leaving. I'm texting everyone I know to show up.

Believe it or not, you can laugh about things without endorsing it. Laughing about beers inspired by horrific humans doesn't mean you endorse them. It's a joke. Don't overreact, and it's raising money for a great cause.
