Nicolas Cage Announces Disappointing News About Potential New 'National Treasure' Movie

"National Treasure" fans got hit with some bad news after Nicolas Cage announced a new movie isn't going to happen.

There's been speculation for years that a third "National Treasure" movie will eventually happen with Cage reprising his role as Benjamin Gates.

Disney released a trash TV series, and while that was awful, it actually further accelerated the belief that interest in a new movie was real.

It's not.

Nicolas Cage crushes dreams of new "National Treasure" movie.

After years of fans wondering when a third movie will arrive, we can now stop wasting time and energy because Cage made it clear it's not.

"Here we go! See, you're the one that brings these things up and they go out and they eclipse everything else. No, there is no National Treasure 3. If you want to find treasure, don't look at Disney, okay? It's not there," Cage said in an interview with ScreenRant.com.

Ballgame, folks. That's a curtain call on one of the coolest movie franchises Disney ever made.

This decision from Disney makes no sense. Not even a little bit. It's a terrible decision. Right now, Disney and other studios have no problem pumping out plenty of garbage.

There's remakes and too many superhero movies to count. Most of it is unwatchable garbage. Sorry, but it's true.

The two "National Treasure" movies were about American history told through the lens of an adventure story. It was a more modern "Indiana Jones" without as much action.

The original film is one of Cage's best movies. Instead of Disney leaning in and making a third film, the studio is apparently bowing out.

Absolutely pathetic. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
