Terrible Apocalypse Movie Trends Amid Massive AT&T Outage

People are having visions of "Leave the World Behind" with AT&T service experiencing mass outages across America.

The popular cell service is getting hammered by outages that have left emergency services in some areas crippled. While there's nothing as of now to suggest a sinister underlying reason, people on X seem to think it's a scene right out of the Netflix film.

The movie with Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Mahershala Ali tells the story of society collapsing, and while I thought the movie was hot garbage, a lot of people liked it.

At the very least, people are drawing a comparison on social media. Check out some of the reactions below, and let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I'm not surprised at all people are making the connection between "Leave the World Behind" and the current cell outages. It's pretty much straight out of the movie.

Cell service goes down, mass confusion unfolds, all hell breaks loose and society falls apart. A very fun time for anyone involved.

Personally, I'd like to suggest we inject some steroids into this situation. Forget about the trash movie that is "Leave the World Behind." It's a garbage film.

Let's pivot to "Red Dawn" - a much better film about society collapsing due to a massive communist invasion. Yes, I keep a copy in the background of my set because the spirit of the Wolverines is something I'm inspired by daily.

Are we confident this isn't the opening wave of a Soviet style invasion? If so, there are a lot of "Red Dawn" fans who are going to have the best days of their lives.

How would the invasion unfold? Probably something like this:

  • Take communications offline
  • Put the public in a blackout type setting
  • Disrupt military communications and take down satellites
  • INVASION!

Of course, it'd be Christmas Day for millions of Americans who would start mixing it up.

Of course, that amazing boys weekend is probably never going to happen because it's probably just a tech issue. Either way, people are having a lot of fun with it, and it's moments like this the internet can be a lot of fun. Let me know what you think of the situation at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
