People Share Uplifting Vegas Stories After Thread Of Nightmare Horrors Goes Viral

People are trying to change the narrative after a thread of absurdly depressing Las Vegas stories went viral.

As OutKick readers know, I'm a huge fan of Las Vegas and go at least once a year. I can't get enough of Sin City. I've never had anything other than a great time.

However, the same can't be said for everyone. A recent Reddit thread went viral with some of the most depressing and dark stories you'll ever hear.

It was…….less than an ideal representation of Sin City, and it definitely is an immediate mood killer.

Positive Las Vegas stories go viral.

Well, I have some good news for everyone. There's a new thread going viral that's full of uplifting Las Vegas stories. Check out some of the best responses below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:

  • That night in 2007 at Excalibur when that douchey dude's girlfriend threw the dice at least 75 times without a 7 and made at least 10 points. She didn't really know how to bet but won huge anyway and players tossed hundreds to her as a thank you. All of us walked away with several thousands. It was the best party ever. I've never seen anything like that since.
  • The good times: Good weather always brings out the tourist smiles. Wedding day couples with buzzy energy. Kids seeing their first showgirl butt. Hearing a group yell BUFFFFALOOO.
  • Getting out of the tunnels and off the streets celebrating 14 years clean and sober and best of luck to any other homeless people out there.
  • The spectacle of the MGM pool on a perfect weather day.
  • The smile on my wife’s face after a day at the spa, then getting her hair and nails done, then we got dressed up and went out to eat. My wife looked absolutely stunning and happy eating at Bobby Flay’s Almafi restaurant. A memory that I will remember forever.
  • My husbands adorable face each morning we wake up in Vegas. He works like a horse year round and asks for nothing. This is his "thing". It’s the only time he ever allows himself to be a priority. It’s my favorite part!!
  • Saw an eldery couple with matching 50th wedding anniversary shirts with their venmo's on it! Had to send them $20 for a celebratory shot.
  • The Stanley Cup parade was a pretty happy thing.
  • The players that hit jackpots are great to see! Probably the happiest thing I've seen - saw a guy hit a $4mm jackpot on a high limit slot once, that was a crazy-happy group of guys. Newly-weds always have a lot of joy/happiness about them, their joy and happiness is always infectious for those around them (before all the disappointment and bitterness creeps in). The young-ish gang of guys that arrive thinking Vegas "can't handle them" - lol.
  • The lady that works at the Nathan’s hot dogs in the airport. I always make it a point to try and see her whenever I roll through that airport - she’s a delight.
  • Wynn buffet.
  • The year both my kids were over 21, I paid for them to fly out. My wife and I were already there for a few days and met them at the airport with a limo. The next morning we did a casino crawl starting at ParkMGM, ending at the Wynn. We drank at each casino, gambled on my dime and ended with a dinner at Hell’s Kitchen. We won pretty much everywhere and the highlight for me was seeing my son hit 4 Queens in 3 card poker. I want to take them back, but fear we could never top the trip we already had.
  • Yearly trip with friends, seeing them tomorrow.
  • Just giving people on the street money. Some don’t respond much, but others are grateful.

See it's not all a horror show in Las Vegas! People are able to have fun without ruining their lives. See how that works? It's not all pure nightmare fuel like the previous thread that went viral.

For me, the happiest thing to do in Las Vegas is an early steak breakfast at Ellis Island followed by blackjack before moving down to the Fremont area of town to soak up some Hogs & Heifers and more blackjack at El Cortez.

I'll be in Vegas soon enough, and can't wait to embrace more chaos and carnage….without any of the downside some people experience. If you have anything other than a great time while in Sin City, then you're simply doing it wrong. Let me know your Vegas stories at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
