Here's How Much NCAA Football Players Will Get For EA Sports Video Game

Beginning today, NCAA football players will be able to officially register for the highly anticipated EA Sports College Football 25 video game and actually get paid for it.

According to ESPN, all college football players that opt-in and are chosen for the upcoming game will receive $600 as well as a free copy of the game, which is worth approximately $70.

The move comes as EA Sports has finalized an agreement with the NCAA regarding college athletes being able to be paid by companies that profit off the individual's name, image and likeness (NIL). The deal is believed to be the largest ever NIL deal with college athletes.

EACH PLAYER WILL RECEIVE $600 IF CHOSEN FOR THE GAME

"We feel very proud that we'll be the largest program, likely the highest-spending program [paying students]… that allows for an inclusive opportunity with an equitable distribution of funds across the board," Sean O'Brien, EA Sports' vice president of business development, told ESPN.

Although $600 is pretty much the equivalent of two weeks worth of stale meals at the school cafeteria, it's at least something, which is more than athletes have previously been able to legally receive. EA Sports says that a number of star players will be able to receive additional money via opportunities such as sponsored social media posts, advertisements and livestreams.

The bottom line is, this sets a precedent for athletes to finally get compensated  for others making bank off of their name, image and likeness.

THIS GAME IS GOING TO RULE

All 134 FBS schools will be represented in College Football 25, after Notre Dame - which was the final hold out - agreed to participate with the gaming company earlier this week.

Each school will be allowed to have up to 85 players in the game, allowing for approximately 11,000 total players. If chosen, a player will automatically be rolled over into future games during his tenure at the school, although he can opt out if he chooses to. The athlete will be compensated $600 annually for his appearance in future video games as well.

Last week, sports fans across the Internet lost their minds when EA Sports dropped the game trailer out of nowhere after not having released an NCAA football game since 2013.

Although there's been no official release date yet, OutKick has reported that, according to a source from Playstation, the game is expected to be released sometime in July.

Ladies, sorry to inform you, but you won't be seeing your boyfriends for a good part of the summer. And fellas, get ready for many late nights in the basement full of beers, hot pockets, and college football video game mayhem. We are so back.
